Empowering Human Performance: Flora and Miro Tabanelli

Since childhood, the family refuge near Lake Scaffaiolo has been their open-air laboratory. Between summers scented with blueberries and winters that speak the language of cold, they have shaped a promise that is also a profound bond. A father who is an artist at heart, who lives with his arms outstretched to catch the stars, and a mother who is their rock, rooted in the soil with the strength of a centuries-old fir tree; two figures who have passed onto their children the beauty of the vertical and the importance of realness, mixing these together in them. A physical and emotional refuge, which is not only home but base camp towards infinity, where Miro and Flora, together with their sister Irene, learned to enter into a dialogue with the most hostile and toughest elements, starting from their own desire for greatness.

A succession of games, on paper. Actually a dress rehearsal of power and grace; ice skating, alpine skiing, piano lessons. Flora and Miro not only learned how to move, but to shape the context around them. The speed with which they passed from one sport to another astonished everyone; their sensitivity to music was reflected in the tricks, the motor memory transferred melodies into their descent. They could have, and perhaps could still excel at anything, but it was freestyle that captured them once and for all, with its mix of obsessive repetition, freedom of thought and pure exploration.
