DAVOS 2016: TECHNOGYM LAUNCHES THE LET'S MOVE & DONATE FOOD CAMPAIGN

The World Economic Forum is holding its annual event in Davos – from January 20th to 23rd - where the world’s foremost CEOs, Heads of State, ministers and policy-makers, experts and international organizations, innovators and representatives of civil society meet with the aim of driving positive change.

Nerio Alessandri, Technogym Founder, will take part to promote wellness as a social opportunity - “Wellness is a social opportunity for everyone. An opportunity for governments to reduce health service costs, for companies to stimulate their members to be more creative and productive and for all citizens to improve their health and daily lifestyle.” This is the proposal that Alessandri has launched at a moment when for the first time in the history of our planet the number of people who are overweight has exceeded the number of people who are undernourished.

At this year’s edition, Technogym will launch the its social campaign “Let’s Move and Donate Food” in support of the United Nations World Food Programme and of its school meals projects. The initiative  leverages technology to convert physical exercise into -nourishing food for children in countries affected by malnutrition..

By simply downloading the Technogym app, people attending to the World Economic Forum will have the chance to keep a track of their daily movement, participate to the campaign and “donate” their movement for a good cause.

Through such initiatives, physical exercise acquires social value and becomes 'healthy' not just for those who exercise but for the cause being supported.

Nerio Alessandri – Technogym President and Founder, remarked: “We are witnesses to a paradox on a global scale. On one hand nearly 2 billion people are either obese or overweight and on the other hand there are 800 million malnourished citizens. The aim of our campaign is to bring about a real change by promoting physical activity and fighting malnutrition at one and the same time.”

Technogym will be present at Davos at the Hub Culture Davos Pavilion - Promenade 93, Davos-Platz – 7270.
