(Lake Nona, Orlando, Florida; February 16, 2017) - The Lake Nona Institute, a collaborative, community-focused nonprofit dedicated to developing, incubating, activating and measuring the impact of health innovation projects within the Lake Nona community, today announced a partnership with Technogym that designates its 17-square-mile, master-designed community as the first “Technogym Connected Wellness Community” in the United States.
Through the partnership, Technogym, the world’s leading wellness and fitness company, will help Lake Nona create a seamlessly connected fitness community. Movement, exercise, sleep and biometrics will be monitored throughout the course of an individual’s life, from kindergarten to university and further into a work and home environment, inside and outside fitness centers. This connected ecosystem based on Technogym’s mywellness platform will create the world’s largest databank to evaluate the impact of how a fitness lifestyle can prevent or reduce preventable illnesses such as diabetes and heart disease.
“What we have created in Lake Nona is an innovation ecosystem with best-in-class partners whose goal is to foster optimal health and wellbeing,” said Gloria Caulfield, Executive Director of the Lake Nona Institute and Vice President of Strategic Alliances for Tavistock Development Company. “Technogym’s global movement to inspire and measure exercise and activity through community activation and world-class programming brings a new dimension to Lake Nona’s ecosystem, which we hope will drive positive health across Lake Nona.”
As a pioneer in developing connected wellness solutions, Technogym will supply to the Lake Nona community, technology (including mywellness, the first cloud-based platform to manage wellness programs), research design and equipment across the 17-square-mile community. Laureate Park’s LP Fit, the USTA National Campus in the Lake Nona Sports & Performance District, Lake Nona Golf & Country Club, and the Lake Nona Courtyard and Residence Inn by Marriott will be among the first facilities equipped wall to wall with Technogym equipment. Furthermore, Technogym has assembled a team of specialized expert staff dedicated to consult on the design of this unique ecosystem, and to assist in research on the impact of physical activity on health and wellness in the Lake Nona community.
“At Technogym we defined the concept of wellness over 25 years ago and have taken products and solutions to over 100 countries around the world. Starting from our firm belief that wellness is an opportunity for everybody - people, business and public sector. Today digital technologies enable us to provide each single user with a personalized training experience, as well as to create ecosystems of wellness impacting entire communities and involving all relevant stake holders: users, fitness operators, companies, health systems,” said Nerio Alessandri Founder and President Technogym. “In Cesena, Italy, we created the Technogym Village, the first wellness campus in the world, that embodies and showcases our wellness vision. Globally we are dedicated to working with partners like Lake Nona to create an environment for healthy living and to promote the wellness economy as the only path to socio-economically sustainable development.”
The announcement was made at the Lake Nona Impact Forum, a three-day symposium where 250 of the nation’s top CEOs, health care entrepreneurs and innovators, government officials and other thought leaders discuss and develop solutions to improve health, wellness and sustainable living throughout the world. Technogym is a Strategic Partner of the Lake Nona Institute and an Impact Partner of the 2017 Lake Nona Impact Forum
